OWAIS - is a Muslim American war hero who came home to an unfaithful wife, kids who didn’t recognize him, and a country that calls him a terrorist. His response…destroy his guns and avoid his family.
MARTA - if you look up sacrifice in the dictionary, you will find a pic of Marta. Before she snuck into the US, she moved her kids to her mothers and killed her abusive husband.
BELLA - found her father hung from her treehouse. She expresses her feelings through her metal art. Her mother is her only human friend. She wants to go to art school and live peacefully with her mother and pets.
GORDY - is Bella’s tortured uncle. When his brother committed suicide, Gordy promised to take care of the family and married Yeva. He believes he’s providing, but in reality lacks the capacity to do it right.
YEVA - wanted two things as a child, pictures of her flowers in “Better Homes and Gardens” and a family. She had both before she graduated high school. She never recovered from her husband’s suicide.
STANDRICK - calls himself a quadruple minority since he is gay, black, poor, and “big boned.” He’s an uber talented clothing designer, but his “the world’s against me” outlook prevents him from achieving his dream; to see his outfits on plus size men on Rupaul’s DRAG RACE.
DONNIE - is the degenerate offspring of two junkies. He met Gordy in rehab where they dropped out and became best friends. He’ll do anything to get the two things he cares most about; sex and his next high.
AS HERSELF - is Bella’s sugar-glider and her father’s last gift. She is the DINGBATZ’s bar mascot and like all of us, she wants to be uncaged and free…or does she?
SHOAIB - lived on the streets for many years. Now he is a peaceful bodega owner who watches Bella steal from him without letting her know. He wants to help Bella find her way, without giving her advice.
CESAR - comes from a long history of drug dealers. To combat his guilt of running an illegal business, he employs undocumented women so they can earn a higher wage than back home. Marta was his first hire.
GRILLZ - is the charismatic leader of a band of misfits that love to party. He wears a mouth grill while he grills for his guests.
TARIO - Is Shoaib's younger brother. He works the day shift at the bodega. Like his older brother, Shoaib has a calm-peaceful presence.
WRITER/DIRECTOR - Isaac’s screenplays have won or placed 18 times in 13 festivals including: Austin, Dances with Films, Page, RIFF, Screencraft, Sriptapalooza, JumpStart, CWA, The Script Lab, Filmmatic, and Scriptation.
